我女兒也會唱歌 My daughter can sing, too

昨天晚上是Vivian學校合唱課程今年度第一次的音樂會。他們學校有一個很好的基督徒合唱指導老師，所有選修合唱的學生根據程度和年級分成五個班，每個班級在每場音樂會中，幾乎都會唱一首有關福音或是基督的歌曲，因此我一直很欣賞這位老師。
Vivian從高一（九年級）開始，就在他們只收高三、四的學生，也是最好的一團中擔任伴奏，今年已經是第三年了，所以和老師有不錯的默契。往年當他們唱無伴奏的歌曲時，Vivian都是坐在台下等，從今年開始，她也加入了合唱團的行列，唱的是女中音（她説她沒法唱高音）。由於她音感好視譜強，所以其他同學在視唱時往往都靠她來帶領。Vivian平常是不輕易開口唱歌的，除了小時候唱兒歌，和有時我們兩個開玩笑胡閙亂唱以外，我幾乎沒聽她認真唱過其他歌曲，要她唱歌就像是要拔牙一樣困難。有時候上大提琴課，她老師會強迫她唱出她所要拉的旋律，她也都是勉勉強強地應付過去。
昨天她除了用大提琴和鋼琴伴奏以外，也是這三年來，我第一次見到她站在臺上和大家一同合唱，所以我臉上的微笑從一看到她穿著袍子走出來就沒有停過。我從小就在合唱團裏長大，所以過去心裏一直為女兒從來沒有合唱經驗而有一點遺憾，現在我看到她不但開口唱歌，而且看她還蠻投入和enjoy的，我的這一個心願總算是達到了，真好！

We attended the first choir concert of this school year of Vivian's high school last night. Their choir conductor is a very good Christian. The choir students were divided into five classes based on their singing ability and grades, and almost every class will sing a gospel or Christian song in every single concert, so I really appreciate this teacher.

Vivian has been the accompanist of concert choir (the best choir which usually only accepts 11th and 12th graders) since 9th grade, so this is the third year she works with this teacher. In the past couple of years, she would wait in the audience seat when they sang a capella songs. This is the first year she started to sing alto with the choir. Because she is a good sight-reader and has good pitch, the rest of the students usually rely on her when doing sight-reading exercise. She seldom opens her mouth to sing at home so I don't really get to hear her singing often unless she was forced to sing by her cello teacher or when we were joking around. It's almost like pulling teeth to ask her to sing.

Last night, besides playing cello and piano to accompany the choir, it was the first time I saw her singing with the choir on stage. I found myself smiling all the way ever since I saw her walking up to the stage in choir robe with the rest of choir members. Because I grew up in choirs, I have always felt something missing in my heart that she never had the same kind of experience. It really feels great to finally see her singing and enjoying in it!
