When I walked out of office this evening around 6:20pm, I noticed that the moon looked kind of funny. I thought to myself that tomorrow is supposed to be the Janary 15 of the lunar calendar and how come the moon was still half? It looked much bigger and 'rounder' two nights ago... So I decided that it was the lunar eclipse. I made some phone calls to family members and friends and asked them to watch the moon, and was told by my sister that it indeed was lunar eclipse. It was the first time I saw lunar eclipse as far as I can remember. I took some pictures after I got home to share with you this interesting view.
此時月亮已經完全被陰影遮住了,旁邊還有兩顆星星。
The moon is covered by the shadow. You can see the two stars next to the moon.

漸漸走出陰影。
Thanks for calling us. The Lunar Eclipse was absolutely stunning! The sky is so clear. What else we can expect? Amazing!
回覆刪除Not sure when I can see Solar Eclipse? How often these Eclipse occur anyway? Feel like need a science lesson :-)
Yes, this is one of a kind experience!
回覆刪除The only solar eclipse I can remember occured when I was in elementary school, either 5th or 6th grade. All the teachers lead the students out of classroom to watch it. I used a piece of colored 10% transparent plastic (便宜薄墊板) to cover my eyes and watched the small circle moving pass the sun. I may not remember all that was taught in the science class, but I will not forget that experience.
I have no memory of any lunar eclipse (thanks for the correct terminology BTW:) prior to this one. Even my parents were very excited. I heard that next lunar eclipse we can see from here will happen in December of 2011, assuming it will not be cloudy or rainy on that day.
I didn't get to see it but your pictures look really good!
回覆刪除How can you take such a clear picture of the moon? Every time when I took picture of moon, I always failed to get sharp edges of moon like you did. What camera did you use?
I don't know too much about the camera so the only thing I can tell you is that I used Nikon D80. The moon was not very bright so I could get the pictures. One thing I did do was that I used the 'time' function to avoid the shaking caused by clicking on the button.
