You Raise Me Up

This beautiful praise has been used for commemorations of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The melody is based on the traditional Irish tune Londonderry Air. The lyrics say:

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

  1. I remembered the first time when I listened to this song in the car...I cried. It was sung by Josh Groban...btw, he is one of my favorite male singers :-)

  2. This is a great music and it always brings the sense of peace that only comes from God. This is the song that I can listen over and over and never get tired of it ...
